A Brief History of the ATA

  • Founded in 1969 by Eternal Grand Master H.U. Lee, The American Taekwondo Association (ATA) is an organization that teaches a particular style of Taekwondo called Songham Taekwondo. The art originated in Korea.
  • Currently the ATA is headed by Grandmaster Soon Ho Lee,a ninth degree and brother of Eternal Grandmaster H.U. Lee. The ATA has branches in more than 16 countries, offering instruction to more than 30,000 students, including 14,000 black belts. There are more than 3,000 certified instructors who teach Songham Taekwondo in more than 800 schools and clubs across the United States, making it easy to continue your training after the U of A.

History of the UofA ATA Club

    The UofA Club has been around unofficially since the mid-70's, and became an officially recognized club in 1991. The club has been ran over the past decade by Master Young from Phoenix, and has recently been handed over to our own local Master Feiles.
